Why is my course not listed? Why are there no books for my course?
If your course is not listed on the booklist, there are a variety of reasons. The professor may not have ordered a book for this course, as it is up to his or her discretion. Or, if your course is for a later duration, as in it is not commencing within the next month, the books will not be listed yet. For example, D3 texts will go on sale in December . Our online booklist is your best source for up-to-date information. We highly recommend printing out your booklist from the web, prior to coming in store.
Which books should I buy?
Books for durations which are starting within the next month should be purchased. We do not advise your purchase of books for future durations as changes to that booklist may occur. For example, in September D1 and D2 course texts should be purchased. D3 texts should be purchased in late November or December.
Why are my books out of stock?
Depending on when the books were ordered by the instructor, your books may not be here yet. We cannot control delivery times, and do our best to get the books on the shelves as soon as possible. Our buyers will order quantities based on the enrolment of a given course, so when the books arrive there should be enough for all students in said course who wish to purchase copies. Keep in mind that the instructor will be advised of stock issues.
If your course is for a later duration, the books may be listed, but out of stock. Due to space constraints, we do not carry all later duration texts until a month before commencing.
Where are the used books?
Used books will be beside the new books for a given course. The Bookstore cannot control how many used books we carry, as it is dependant on how many students sold back their books to the Bookstore. The prices for used texts are listed on the pink highlighted price tags, and no tax will be applied. Used texts are subject to the same refund policy as new texts, and can be sold back at end of the year if that title/edition is to be used in the following duration. Please note that faculty make all textbook and edition decisions. As the Bookstore will be buying back books throughout the rush period, check back often for additional used copies to arrive.
I have a different edition than the book on the booklist, can I use it anyway?
The selection of texts for a given course is up to the discretion of the instructor. As such, the Bookstore only recommends using the text and edition that has been listed on the booklist. If you would like to enquire about using other editions, we advise contacting the instructor directly.
What is the Bookstore's online pricing policy?
While the Brock University Bookstore does maintain strict quality control measures in regards to the information contained on this
site, errors in product pricing can occur. The Bookstore's policy in these matters is to adhere to the in-store price of a given item, if different from the online list price.
