Privacy Policies

The Brock University Bookstore, the Brock Badgers Sport Shop and Brock Micro regards the privacy of all users of utmost importance. In addition, we will take every means necessary to protect any information you may give to us. This includes Registry information such as your name and address, or Ordering Information such as Credit Card Information.

Our web site is secured by Verisign, which is a highly used internet certification product. You can see the Verisign symbol on our home web page. We employ SSL for your privacy in transmitting sensitive information. If your browser is capable of working with "strong encryption" (128-bit encryption), our servers will negotiate that with your browser. If your browser supports standard encryption (40-bit), our servers will work with this as well. We will not accept personal data on any page that is not SSL enabled.

We will not rent, sell, loan or otherwise market your personal information to any third party. We will only use your information to process any order you may make with the Bookstore, or only if you opt-in, we may e-mail you with specials or sales which you requested information, reply to your queries, and we may e-mail you with specials or upcoming sales as notifications four to six times a term. At any time if you choose to discontinue this notification service, your e-mail and contact information is removed from the database.

Prior to the academic year, usually between June and August, we may send you information on all of our services, with order information for items geared towards your successful academic year. This information will be sent up to a maximum of two times per summer.

It is important to note, that if we are compelled by any governmental authority of competent jurisdiction within North America to release information regarding a registrant, we must do so. We assure you that this would be the only entity outside of the Bookstore to be able to obtain information, and then only under court order.

Use of "cookies" Our shopping cart system uses "cookies" to store your selections, the most common cause of items disappearing from your shopping cart is when cookies are either not supported or disabled. Our website has been tested extensively with Internet Explorer 4.0 and later, and Netscape Navigator 4.08 and later. We recommend Internet Explorer available here free of charge.

To enable cookies with Internet Explorer 5.0:
  1. Click "Tools" -> "Internet Options"
  2. then choose the "Security Tab" and click the "Custom Level" button
  3. Scroll down and enable the cookies by selecting the checkbox.

To enable cookies with Netscape Navigator 4.0:

  1. Click "Edit" -> "Preferences",
  2. Click "Advanced"
  3. Enable cookies by choosing the option under the "Cookies" section.
